Cockermouth U12/U11 19pts vs. Penrith U12/U11 0pts
Penrith travelled to Cockermouth in anticipation of a closely fought game based upon previous meetings between the clubs. The final score did not reflect how close the game actually was and Cockermouth may be deemed lucky to have recorded three tries against a Penrith team much improved from their showing at the Vale of Lune Festival the previous week.  The match played in mild spring like conditions saw good periods of rugby by both teams with Penrith dogged in defence and when in possession getting quick ball out to the backs. The first half ended with Cockermouth one converted try to the good. The second half saw more flowing rugby by Penrith who tested the Cockermouth defence more and more as the game progressed but this left gaps in the Penrith defence and Cockermouth scored two further tries, one of which was converted. Penrith maintained a positive attitude throughout the match and this will stand them in good stead for the return to Cockermouth in April for the Cockermouth Festival and the visit of Carlisle to Winters Park tomorrow.
