Remembrance Sunday 9th November 2014
Under 12`s Penrith v Fylde
Team :- Jacob Batey(man of the Match), Oliver Bibby, Luke Coggins, Declan Devaney, Llewelyn Giggs, Tom Hill, Jonny Hope, Spencer Lancaster, Samuel Nelson , Declan Parkinson, Bailey Potts, , Connor Robinson, Liam Scott (Capt) Mathew Thompson, Thomas Wear, Adam Wilson.

Remembrance Sunday saw a 16 strong under 12 squad travel South to Lytham St. Annes home to Fylde Rugby Club.
At 11 am all the teams, officials and spectators gathered on the main pitch in an act of remembrance.
Team captain for the day Liam Scott shook hands with his opposite number and the game got underway with Fylde kicking towards Penrith. Fylde made a strong start but Penrith counter attacked led by Bailey Potts and a run forward by Connor Robinson. This resulted in a scrum on the 5 metre line. The resulting play saw the ball stay in Penrith`s possession, allowing Connor Robinson space to carry the ball over the try line in the corner and open the scoring.
Declan Parkinson safely gathered the subsequent Fylde kick and ran forward into the opposition staying upright and in the resulting Maul Fylde took possession of the ball, broke free from the maul and before Penrith could muster a defence had crossed the line to equalise.
The game settled into a period of attrition with Fylde using their big forwards to try and force a way through the Penrith defence. Time and again they were brought down by fearless and valiant tackling led by Tom Hill and Oliver Bibby.
Fylde with a heavier pack dominated the scrums and just before the end of the first period managed to catch Penrith on the back foot and score a second try. They failed to make the subsequent kick to convert which would cost them later.
Penrith kicked off in the second period and with both teams giving it all they had it wasn’t long before the casualty toll began to mount on the Penrith side.
First Connor came off with a recurring shoulder injury shortly followed by Spencer Lancaster with a knock to his shoulder. The referee had his hands full but kept control by strict enforcement of the two hands on the ball rule.
This period of play saw some excellent work from Jacob Batey earning him `man of the Match` and inspiring the team to keep giving their all. The hard work was rewarded when Connor scored a second try. Not to be outdone Fylde hit back when one of their big forwards broke free and scored their third.
The final period saw both teams giving their all and it looked like Penrith were about to go another try down when Fylde wrestled the ball over the line but the ref declared no try as the ball had not been grounded.
With Penrith under pressure on their own try line an excellent clearance by Connor Robinson saw the ball bounce into touch well into Fylde territory. A penalty was awarded to Penrith and seizing his chance Robinson tapped and went straight for the line to even the score at three tries each. With only a minute to go until full time that’s how it ended.
So three tries each but with a missed kick by Fylde Penrith came out the winners at 21 points to 19.
A well-deserved win against a strong side.
