Wigton vs Penrith U12's

Penrith Team
Luke Coulston, David Boyce, Diarmid Bradon, Sam Reay, Zack Parkin, Lewis Newton, Jacob Fidler, Olly Boyes, Alec Robinson, Felix Green, Olly Morley, Archie Thurrel, Max Blundell, Will Marston

On a warm Autumn day the U12's arrived at Wigton with a 14 strong squad eager to start the season. Unfortunately Wigton only had 5 players so the game could only go ahead by lending a substantial number of players to the home team.

Although not ideal it turned out that it was a valuable training session.

The first half kicked off and the Penrith team proved too strong for the opposition. Five unanswered tries 3 from Olly Boyes who pirouetted and side step his way past tackles, a well taken solo effort by Alec Robinson and after a great clear at a breakdown again by Olly B, Diarmid Bradon crashed over the line.

The Penrith forwards were swapped to Wigton half way through the first half and the scoring continued with tries from Olly B after a good passing move along the line, Jacob Fidler after a "Wigton" forward dropped the ball and a great junking run from former Wigton man Felix Green evading several tackles. It should also to be noted Felix attracted a large amount of attention from the Wigton opposition and he weathered this admirably.

Just before half time "Wigton" scored their first try.

More changes at half time with Penrith backs joining Wigton. This evened up the two sides and lead to a better contest with good passing rugby from both teams. Penrith still managed to outscore 4 tries to 3 with another run from Diarmid Bradon to open the scoring, a score from Will Marston after sustained pressure from Penrith, Zack Parkin from another great forward effort and a run from Max Blundell from the half way.

The Wigton tries were scored by Penrith players.

Overall score Penrith 12 Wigton 4

Thanks to all the players for making the best of a bad situation. The experience will be invaluable for future games.
