First home game of the season and a fantastic turnout of 17 players.
An overall impressive performance overwhelmed a gutsy Egremont team with excellent team play from everyone on the Penrith team.
For the first time 13 a side which actually made for an enjoyable game.

Straight from Kick Off a ruck formed near the Egremont line and Diarmid Bradon came up with the ball to score an early try.
Almost immediately a series of missed tackles allowed the Egremont winger to run half the length of the pitch and score.
After a number of exchanges an excellent move left Ollie Boyes free on the wing and he ran for the line only to be tackled short leaving him lying on the ground. The referee deemed the tackle high and awarded a penalty try.

For a period the game became an even contest with both teams producing some great rugby and chances at both ends but following a sustained effort by Penrith during which the ball was dropped near the line a scrum to Penrith resulted in a passing move and from the resulting ruck Diarmid Bradon picked up the loose ball and scored a second try.
From here Penrith took the upper hand and Egremont had no answer.
Alec Robinson scored with a great solo effort from a scrum pick up and just before half time ball ripped from an Egremont attack by the forwards allowed Ollie Boyes to squeeze through the defence.

In the second half Egremont tired and could not cope with Penrith's passing and rucking superiority.

Seven unanswered tries were scored from;
Felix Green another squirming run,
Jacob Fidler in the corner from a backs passing move with an excellent final pass from Ollie Boyes
Diarmid Bradon (2) brute force and determination,
Max Blundell evading tackles on a good run,
Ollie Boyes another sprint down the wing
Lewis Newton with some side stepping which was well deserved.

Final score Penrith 12 Egremont 1

This performance was the result of hard work with every player playing his part. Let's hope we can take this form into the Cockermouth Tournament next week. We are due another trophy!!!!
