Penrith win 3 out of 3!

Penrith win 3 out of 3!

Penrith Squad;
Luke Coulston, Diarmid Bradon, Sam Reay, Zak Parkin, Lewis Newton, Jacob Fidler, Ollie Boyes ,Alec Robinson, Felix Green, Max Blundell, Will Marston, Ollie Morley, David Boyce, Louie Johnston

Games were 7.5 minutes per half with 12 players a side.
Three pools of three teams were drawn with Penrith being pitted against Keswick and Egremont.

In scenes reminiscent of Wigton two weeks ago, due to a lack of opposition players Penrith's affiliated "Match Day Loan" scheme came into play again so a game against Keswick was made possible.

Match 1
Penrith 6 vs 1 Keswick

The game kicked off with both teams having chances then a misplaced pass in defence by Keswick allowed Ollie Boyes to pounce on a loose scrappy ball and run straight for Penrith's first try.
This galvanised the Penrith effort and they began to score more freely.
Ollie Morley pushing over despite being held by several defenders and from the resulting Kick Off Ollie Boyes caught the ball and sprinted up the wing to score in the corner. A fourth try was ruled out as the last pass just went forward.

Loan repaid at half time Penrith were on the offensive.
Lewis Newton took advantage of good recycling from ruck ball to score.
Letting their guard down for a second Penrith lost a try after the ball was turned over by Keswick.
Undeterred Ollie Boyes scored his third try of the game from a good pass from Lewis and from a ruck Diarmid Bradon capitalised to score Penrith's sixth.

Match 2
Penrith 4 vs 0 Egremont

The Ollie Boyes masterclass continued where it left off in Match 1.
Having defeated this team a week ago Penrith were not going to let Egremont get revenge.
A tough encounter ensued but Lewis Newton linked well with Ollie B for try one. Another excellent move thwarted by great Egremont defence just short of the line before Ollie B side stepping to a second and Will Marston twisting and turning for a third before half time.

An even second half until Ollie's brave Hat-trick try was grounded at the final whistle.

Luckily he managed to shake off injury sustained in the process of scoring.

Match 3
Penrith 5 vs 1 Kendal

Early on Lewis finishes off a move which went through a couple of good phases with a run across the pitch for try one.
Kendal then took the initiative but great defence from Penrith managed to hold up the ball. Through several well executed handling moves along the back line a try for Jacob Fidler a reward for perseverance and again Ollie Boyes on another of his now famous runs. The first half comes to an end when Zak tries to reach the line on one of his many forward drives. The ball comes out to Luke Coulston who pushes through a desperate defence to score.

The second half is a more even contest with few opportunities coming to either side. A fifth Penrith try is scored by Ollie B and finally Kendal find a way over in the corner.

A very creditable performance in all games despite not reaching the same heights as against Egremont last week. Unbeaten and only conceding two tries in three games the lads should be very proud and ready to take it up a level for what will be a testing fixture at Kirkby Lonsdale next week.

Well done everyone especially the coaches on "Silent Sunday"
