Saturday sees the start of the new season with the visit of Aspatria in the county cup.
Last season Penrith would have been two levels above Aspatria and this draw would perhaps have seemed routine.
That is far from the case now, we have not won a competitive game since the 19th October last year and Aspatria have recruited heavily in the close season - they seem to have signed up about half the county side which almost sees them start the game as favourites.
There will be some interesting scenarios out there on Saturday, Gary Hodgson makes a return to the club he has just left in his first game of the season, our new Head Coach Dave Preston has his first outing also against the club he has just left.
Penrith have gone out of the cup in the last two seasons against clubs from the level below them so they are taking this game deadly seriously, it will be well worth watching.
2nd XV also host Egremont in the Cup - A super day at Winters Park
Also look out for the visits of Bolton, Wigton and Kendal in September
