Friday Night Girls Rugby V Keswick

Nigel Beaty7 Dec 2019 - 13:24

With the Flu virus causing havoc across the County a big thanks to the 5 Keswick Girls who travelled through to help make a fun night of rugby. The more the girls play the more they improve!

The girls played 3 matches of 5 a side on small pitches to ensure everyone had plenty of opportunity to be involved on a cool but dry evening.
The games were generally even and there was some excellent individual running and tackling on display.

One of the Penrith teams then joined up with the Keswick girls for 15 mins of 10 a side full game as per regulations for this age group.

The squad continues to grow and this week Mia Fawcett made her debut and showed lots of potential with some elusive running. Lexie was most peoples vote for most improved player with some strong runs and tries. Lily was as usual top try scorer. Amber led the team well with some excellent passing and fine runs. Sofia made several strong tackles, Leila was all action and organised one of the teams well. Evie L continues to be more involved and Evie W had an excellent all round game.
Scarlett led one of teams and showed improvement in her passing. Keira showed her strength in the maul and tackle.
Summer was busy - passing and more positive with her forward runs.
Charlotte continues to add strong determined runs to her passing game. Rebecca showed her pace down the wings and made several try saving tackles.
Jess Graham was another who improved her passing as well as her strong determined runs for several tries.
Chloe had a great start almost unstoppable with the ball before the flu bug caught up with her.
Aimee is setting the benchmark for low tackling, even a burst nose didn't put her off - and she scored several tries using her pace.

Following the match the girls enjoyed some professionally organised party games by Lindsey Robinson not to mention a chocolate fountain.
While the parents had a meeting to update on plans for the girls going forward.

Jan 11th next match away at Darlington Mowden Park followed by watching the DMP Sharks Professional Women Team v London Wasps.
