The match was preceded by a minutes silence to show respect for school friend Lucy Bland who sadly passed away on Friday.
The match was played 4 x 15min quarters, fielded same 15 players all game which was testament to the girls toughness as the odd minor knock was sustained. The girls responded well to some new challenges with 5 players scrums, 15 a side with full length and almost full width pitch.
It was an exciting game finishing 9 tries per side, both teams won a 1/4 and drew 2 1/4s so it was even all the way
Try scorers were Bianca,Tallulah,Chloe, Summer, Paige, Lara & Lissee.
As usual Penrith strength was with direct (forward) running from usual suspects - Katie, Chloe, Bianca. Both teams adapting to 2 person rucking, Penrith tries almost all from direct running, close support and recycling as opposed to Keswick scores being through better handling and longer wider runs.
Penrith still need to work on width of both defence and attack; Keswick held better width in both areas hence they scored wider themselves and restricted Penrith to more direct attacking. Only physical strength and slightly better rucking allowed Penrith attacking success - most wider efforts were thwarted. More defensive width and better one on one tackling work ons for the girls.
Much better discipline and respect all round. A good fair tough game which really benefited each side.
Obviously an emotional day all round, thankyou to Keswick for their understanding and hugs!
