Penrith U14 Girls were pleased to welcome a combined team of Barnard Castle and Billingham for a full pitch, 15 a side fixture. We have played a Billingham side previously but really didn't know what to expect of the Barnard Castle girls. A match of three 20mins periods proved a good run out in typically muddy conditions.

It was of the first occasions Penrith have decided to experiment with player positions, and pleasingly this allowed us to hold some shape and therefore exploit wider attacking channels whilst still maintaining some close-in direct running. The ruck area was well contested and we managed to navigate a few lineouts successfully.

In a scoreline that really did not reflect the efforts and commitment until the last minute of the Barney and Billingham girls, Penrith ran out as 11 tries to nil winners. A good scoreline, but we are under no illusions that we still have lots to work on in the coming weeks.
