14th September Penrith v Carlisle

Penrith got their season off to a great start today with a good win against Carlisle. The home side nearly scored in the first 2 minutes, however the Penrith boys kept them pinned back from the try line, allowing a fight back with Joe Robinson scoring after 3 minutes. It was only another 10 minutes before Joseph Newby added another, Penrith however, missed both conversions.
Carlisle broke through on 21 minutes with a darting run, a good conversion followed, bringing the scoreline to 10-7. Penrith rallied and only took 3 minutes to score again, this time, Hugh Byrne taking the honours. Louie converted.
Just before 1/2 time Carlilse managed to pull one back, to bring the scores to 17 all going into the break.

The home side seemed to be fired up at the start of the second half, scoring 2 tries quickly after kickoff, A great run by louie Johnson and conversion by Ed brought the scores to 24-26 with only 8 mins of the second 1/2 played.
13mins in, Tom kirk scored the first of 3, with Eds conversion, Penrith were back in the lead at 31-26, Carlisle fought back to make it 31 all with only 15 minutes left to play, It was then Penrith really found thier form, some excellent passing saw 3 tries in the last 15 minutes with 3 conversions, Louie and Tom with the tries, Ed with the conversions. The last try being in the last minute of play.
Final score Penrith 50 Carlisle 31. A few knocks and injuries kept Jim "the iceman" Campbell on his toes, but nothing too serious.

Great support from the parents/coaches, Great effort from the boys.

A great start to the season.

Well done lads.
