With bags of enthusiasm and optimism parents and players gathered for what turned out to be a very enjoyable day, if not victorious.
Parents assumed their usual role of chief bag carrier, camp setter, supporter and chef (well Gavin did!) Team 2 were quick to start with an inspiring 7(tries)-0 victory over Percy Park. Team 1 were a little slower off the mark with a 1-4 loss to Ponteland. After bacon butties and a drink team 2 were keen to get started against Carlisle. They were up for the challenge following their defeat the week before. After some missed tackles and dropped balls that proved too expensive, Carlisle had their revenge winning 4-2. Penrith 2 although tired and a little jaded stayed on the pitch facing a formidable task against a well drilled Northern who ran out eventual winners 5-2. Team 1 were up against a Percy Park B team and lost (sorry I don’t know the score!) After a break Team 1 lifted their spirits with a 3-3 draw against Percy Park. After a short break they played the eventual tournament winners Morpeth A, losing 9-0. Team 2 got back to winning ways in their last match against Morpeth B with a convincing 7-1 victory.
The final was held at half time between the Falcons and Northampton match, Morpeth 3 Northern 1.
