What a win and what effort from Felix!

1st match of the season against a weakened Fylde Team, who kindly offered us a game at short notice. 11 a side for the first half, reduced to 10 due to a Fylde head injury, then increased to 12 a side for the second half, with 3 Penrith players moving over.

Not a bad performance with some real promise from the backs, showing strong running, some cheeky moves beginning to appear all over the park and the first "out of the back hand" offload by the Boyes prodigy to set up Jacob for a good try. Jacob should have had another but decided to slide to a halt in the middle of the park, put the ball down and celebrate the try he was planning to make - funnily enough the opposition said "thanks" and picked it up! There were further tries from Max, Felix, Aaron, Will, Oliver M, and Alec but the real contest was between Luke and Ollie B, the little and Large show, which Ollie won with 3 tries to Luke's 2. Jacob, Felix and Will making 2 assists each and Sam 1, all showing a strong desire to get involved in the moves.

Defensively Alec led the way with the most tackles but Aaron and Harry were not far behind (when Harry wasn't trying to break Aarons nose with his head), which was good to see - Ollie B and Lewis were also providing solid defence in mid field. Rucking was good but mauling average, with not enough players hitting the maul with purpose, often just stopping to have a look. Clearly work to be done by the forwards coach.

Second half - Zak, Harry and Ollie M went over to play for Fylde, the Penrith score rate dropped by half, Zak put in some great defensive work, Ollie some shape in their backs and Harry glided over for an exquisite Fylde try! Really good attitude from the boys.

Last mention, for sheer effort, goes to Felix who popped up all over the park for 40 mins - well done.

Good effort boys!
