On Sunday 25th September the Penrith under 13 squad travelled to Carlisle for a traditionally tough fixture.
With both sides having large numbers of players available there was an opportunity for the coaches to make many changes and the whole of both squads were used throughout the match. Players in the Penrith squad were also tried out in a variety of positions.
The Penrith players all showed an eagerness to work hard and challenge for the ball in every area of the pitch. Some great forward play saw the Penrith team persistently drive forwards in the rucks and mauls. Even as the squad was rotated the Penrith pack continued to be competitive in the scrums and the backs were presented with plenty of ball which they used to great advantage, showing great handling skills and strong running.
The whole team tackled well and both forwards and backs got on the score sheet as Penrith managed to run in 15 tries to Carlisle’s four, whose players have to be commended on their continued efforts through to the end of the game.
Try scorers for Penrith were: David Whittle with four, Patrick Noutch with three and Thomas Graves, Alex Pantechis, Adam Howe, Liam Trevaskis, Euan Gillespie, Alex Fawcett, Keegan Shaw and Nathan Hamilton all with one apiece. The final score of 93 - 24 in favour of Penrith was the result of very good team work and disciplined play and the whole squad deserves praise for an excellent result.
