11. Tim Shepherd (Colts Coach)

MEET A MEMBER MONDAY

This week we have Colts' Coach and much loved member of Penrith RUFC, Tim Shepherd. Tim has coach various Colt teams over the last 12 years, with many of the players still playing for Penrith or other local clubs and some at national league level.

Name: Tim 'Shep' Shepherd

Playing positions: Number 8/Flanker.

Club positions: Current Colts' Coach, previous 1st XV Team Captain and new Head of Rugby Development to work alongside all the youth and senior coaches.

How many years at Penrith RUFC: 31 years!

What does he love most about Penrith RUFC: "The fantastic facilities and opportunities to play a good standard of rugby. Also, the opporunity to create memories and friendsips that last forever."

What does he want to see Penrith RUFC achieve in the next season of rugby: "1st XV team to stabilise their league position and continue to give youth players a chance. 'A' Team to play some competitive games and for the youth section to continue to develop fine young men and women."

What is his fondest memory of Penrith RUFC: "There's too many to only select one...

1. Being part of the Penrith 1st Team who won the County Cup in April 2000 for the first time in 40 years. One of the tightest games I've ever player in, eventually winning 12-11. I think I had the best night of my life that night.

2. Playing for a Penrith Select team to celebrate the opening of the new clubhouse in 1997.

3. Seeing eight of my Colts team play first team rugby in the 2013/14 season (including current first teamers, Jamie McNaughton and Jack Peet).

4. Going on tour 10 years after winning the County U19 trophy with virtually the same team. Rugby friendships last forever. We then continued this for the next four years, only stopping when we lost our first game."

Huge thank you to Shep for sending through his favourite rugby memories, I'm sure many of you will also hold great memories of being coached by Shep and playing with your Colt teams. Comment your favourite memory below!
