14. Gary Atkinson (Youth Rugby Director)

MEET A MEMBER MONDAY
Every Monday we post a club member profile, they may be a player, coach, team manager or committee member, to make it easier to put names to faces when you're at the club!

This week we have a familiar face to many at the club, especially those in our youth section! Gary does a great deal for the club, first and foremost as being an advocate for youth rugby and as such we have an extensive youth section with over 250 boys and girls, which as a club we are incredibly proud of. They are the future of the club!

Gary is also a tremendous asset to the fundraising team who volunteer to organise fundraising events for the club. He’s pleased that this year has seen the formation of a dedicated fundraising team and takes the mentality that ‘more hands makes light work’. Anyone interested in getting involved in fundraising for the club shouldn’t hesitate to get in touch!

Name: Gary Atkinson

Positions: Youth Chairman, U13s Team Manager and part time Coach/Referee

How many years at Penrith RUFC: 6 years at Penrith RUFC.

What does he love most about Penrith RUFC: Gary’s first answer was “Mark Bowman!” and then he went on to say “Honestly, the camaraderie! I’ve made a lot of friends in six years. Also, and more importantly, seeing the enjoyment my son - Harvey and his mates get out of playing rugby.”

What does he want to see Penrith RUFC achieve in the next season of rugby: “More of the same for me... Each season we get a wave of new people volunteering their time and efforts to continue growing this great rugby club! Thank you to all involved. Happy Christmas!”

Thank you to Gary for all of his hard work this year and we hope 2020 holds even more good things for Penrith RUFC youth section and the club as a whole.
