17. Dave Preston (1st XV Team Head Coach)

MEET A MEMBER MONDAY

Every Monday we post a club member profile, they may be a player, coach, team manager or committee member, to make it easier to put names to faces when you're at the club!

This week we have Dave Preston, Head Coach for our 1st XV team. With this being Dave’s 6th season as Head Coach, he’s a well respected figure within the club and as the 1st XV lads like to sing, Presto’s on fire!

Name: Dave Preston

Positions: 1st XV Team Head Coach and 2nd row player.

How many years at Penrith RUFC: Dave started in the U21s at Penrith, he progressed from 3rd team to 2nd to 1sts with his 1st XV debut in the 1995/96 season. Dave has played 169 1st XV games for Penrith with this season being his 6th season as Head Coach. He also had spells of playing at both Kendal and Aspatria during his rugby career.

What does he love most about Penrith RUFC: Watching his son, Max, play for the U7s and seeing the kids set up and watching them come through to senior rugby.

What does he want to see Penrith RUFC achieve in the next season of rugby: "Maintain our 1st team status and be in with a shout at the end of the season or at least a play off place."

Our 1st XV team train every Tuesday and Thursday 7pm - 8.30pm and are currently playing in the North One West league.
