MEET A MEMBER MONDAY
Meet a Member Monday is back! We know you'll be missing the club and the familiar faces you see there, so we've rounded up some of the best to tell their stories.
To kick us back off, we have our Club President, Ian Davidson.
Name: Ian Davidson
Positions: Started off on the right wing before moving to fly half and finishing off at full back. Now President, Secretary and a Director.
How many years at Penrith RUFC: "I started off my playing career at Penrith in the 1967/68 season playing initially for the 3rd team before moving up to the 1st team the following season. Try scorer and goal kicker. I went away to London between 1972 and 1976 to study and played rugby for a side in Surrey during that time before moving back to Penrith to work and continuing my playing career at Penrith up until injury stopped my playing career in the late 80's. I then took time out to pursue my work before the late Ted Chappelow persuaded me to come back top the club and on to the committee. At the time, the club had just moved into the new clubhouse."
What does he love most about Penrith RUFC: "The camaraderie - this is a great club with a great atmosphere which has grown, in my time here, to be one of the best and most envied in the north west."
What does he want to see Penrith RUFC achieve in the next season of rugby: "Continued success for all our teams both senior and junior."
What is his fondest memory of Penrith RUFC: "Being part of this great club."
